Just like with people, yet for whatever reasons people will still eat the lower quality food. All im getting at is get your facts that the food mad your pwt sick, then open your mouth. Till then shut it. Once again look up any brand of pet food, even Holistic brands. However, I do happen to know more about pet food and products than the average person. Facts are facts and when it happens to your dog or cat, one even one time is too many!!!
We are not on this post to fight with you, change your mind, or to change your food...It's clearly a place to vent and talk to other caring individuals with the same problem. The pets who were taken off the food for several days got better - when given the food again - got sick again - when switched to different or homecooked - got better. Because of all the stories I have recently heard, I am also sending the food out to an independent lab.
What she did tell me was that she has a very ill dog admitted in to her clinic that was eating Nutro food. Nutro sent me a form letter and return envelope, and requested I send 4 cups of dog food back to their office, along with the reports from the emergency clinic. I'm not sure why some people out there get so angry and defensive when they read about those of us who are questioning the dog food. Don't you think if they cared at all they would pull the food from the shelves and try to figure it out.
If this includes testing dog food, then that's what I'll do, but it was my puppy, my responsibility to my remaining dog, and my grieving kids that I have to live with. If it does turn up to be something in the food Nutro would at least have thier integrity left and when they fix the problem they may get their customers back for their caring and honest response. Since they haven't done anything and it does turn up to be the food nobody will feed Nutro again and Nutro will more loose money in the long run, maybe even go bankrupt. I could email either my regular DVM or the Holistic DVM that formulates our food with your question. So don't just go out and buy a better food on your own talk with your vet if you haven't already.
